Fred Tomaselli

Tomaselli was an artist i started researching in high school. I had search an artist who i thought most related to me. His artworks have so much more meaning to them then anyone would know. When first viewing them you would just see them as crazy eccentric pieces. But he is not just a painter but a mixed media artist. He uses cut out newspaper ads, images from magazines and cut out birds. But the one thing that drew me most to his work was that he uses medicinal herbs, prescription pills and hallucinogenic plants on the canvases to form this abnormal images. This became interesting to me because when you look at his work, you almost feel like your on one of these drugs. They are so interesting and seducing. Fred said, "It is my ultimate aim, to seduce and transport the viewer in to space of these pictures while simultaneosly revealing the mechanics of that seduction". Explosions of color and excitement only makes the viewer interested in more of his artwork. I also did many replicas of his art but in my own style and i enjoyed exploring his crazy ways.
